The Place of Arms forms the heart of the castle. It lies as a quadrangular inner courtyard, reached by ascending past two drawbridges. It sits above a large tank carved into the limestone and has served multiple purposes over the centuries. Originally, it was the centre of the settlement and the site of the church of San Pietro in Corte. Later, it became the Piazza d’Armi, a wide, strategic space for troop training and official ceremonies, and today it hosts concerts and other cultural events.
The square was also a stage for parades and demonstrations of power, where the Caetani displayed their military strength. Today, the courtyard retains its imposing presence, offering spectacular views of the walls and towers. Visitors are invited to imagine the clash of arms and the rhythm of drills that once shaped life within the fortress.
