The Cappella di Santa Barbara is dedicated to the patron saint of soldiers and artillerymen, invoked for protection against the dangers of weapons and explosions. Its presence at the heart of the fortress highlights the deep connection between faith and military life.

Built in the 15th century during the Renaissance expansions commissioned by the Caetani, the chapel has a simple, contemplative design intended for meditation and prayer. This sacred space was frequented by soldiers before battle and by artillerymen who patrolled the wall walk.
