The outer wall walk runs along part of the external defensive circuit and offers a strategic vantage point over the surrounding territory. It was used to monitor enemies and coordinate defensive actions, protecting the walls and the main towers. The crenellations provided protection for the outer rampart — located between the Torre di Ponente and the Torre del Belvedere — from both external attacks and potential threats from within the castle. The merlons allowed defenders to strike assailants while remaining under cover. From here, guards enjoyed complete visual control over the village and access routes. In times of peace, the wall walk became a space for daily patrols, symbolising control and security.
